Permission to Brag

"May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world". - Galatians 6:14

Let’s be honest for a second...We all have things we like about our lives. Most of the time it has to do with something we have done. Whether it's your line of work, your hobbies, what kind of food you do or don't eat, where you have traveled, or how many kids you have. If you disagree or can't think of what you admire about your life, maybe answering this question will help: What is one thing that you always want people to know about you early on in conversation?

It's important to live a life of gratitude for the blessings we've been given and the experiences we've had, but many like myself have fed into the unspoken cultural belief that what we do determines who we are. Scripture doesn't tell us that and thank the Lord! If it did we would all be hopeless!

To be clear, I’m not condoning a life of hypocrisy. What I’m getting at is this; it's what Christ has done that makes us who we are and that is something worth sharing. I hope the work of Christ is so present in our lives, that we can't explain any part without including him in it! As believers It is my prayer that we are more proud of who we are because of what Christ has done than we are about what we have done because…ultimately, where would we be without him?

CHALLENGE: Get to know someone new without asking him or her what they do : )
