Satisfy Us with Your Love
Psalm 90:14-17
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
for as many years as we have seen trouble.
May your deeds be shown to your servants,
your splendor to their children.
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands.
The word “satisfy” has been on my mind and in my prayers this past week. The truth is that satisfaction can be hard to come by and is often short lived. Whether it's a delicious meal or a job well done, feelings of satisfaction pass us quickly by. The writer of psalm 90 calls upon the Lord to “satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days”. The writer seems to be hinting at something greater than the fleeting feeling I just mentioned. In fact the next verse goes on to say, “make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble”. Even in our afflictions God wants to satisfy us with his love. In God’s love we can always find satisfaction, if we choose, because his love for us never fades away. He proved his unfailing love for us through Jesus who laid down his life so that we could take up ours and experience an everlasting satisfaction in Him. My prayer has been that God would remind me of this early and often as I go about my day and that I would not be quick to forget God’s goodness toward me all of my days
