Keep Watering

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

My mom has grown into the strongest prayer warrior I know. The amount of people she prays diligently for, paired with real, dramatic results, often sends me to her when I have an "extra important" prayer request.

This week, she shared with me that when she was out weeding the garden after two days of rain, she noted how easily the normally tough weeds slipped out of the ground. "When we pray for someone,  we are watering their ground with our prayers," she said. We as humans often want the credit and influence of being the one to pull weeds of sin or bad choices out of people's lives.  But only God does that, and only when that person makes the choice to yield that sin to Him. We may never get any "credit" for our prayers. Nor should we. But what a privilege to be helping water hard, unforgiving soil and then get to watch as weeds slip out and God transforms a life.
