Reflecting Our Creator
I'm grateful to spend as much time outdoors as I do. When I think about the parables of Jesus I have trouble thinking of one that doesn't incorporate an element of God's creation. One I often think of when I'm sitting on a lake is this: Just like calm water reflects its surroundings, so we are meant to reflect our creator. Our heart to love, our mind to know and our will to choose all contribute to us being created in God’s image. If we are created in God's image then the life we live is intended to display what He is like. Oftentimes wind and waves, the "storms of life" (sin) will sweep across a lake, distorting the true picture of what the water is reflecting. Unlike water, we have the ability to choose whether or not we will let the image of our Creator become distorted. As you seek to bear the image of your Creator, I pray that His love for you in Jesus is your greatest inspiration. Remember, you can't reflect him adequately on your own, and he doesn't ask you to! He gives us his Spirit to bear witness to his glory, to lead us into all truth and to transform us into the image of His Son.
