Upside Down Kingdom
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” - Philippians 2:5-11
Recently, a few members of our ministry team came up with the idea for these "Upside Down Kingdom" hats. So, what is the upside-down kingdom? I'm glad you asked…
The upside-down kingdom is God's Kingdom—the Kingdom Jesus proclaimed and lived out—where the values of this world are turned on their head because Jesus is King. In His Kingdom, the humble are lifted up, the last become first, we love our enemies, we lead by serving, and we find freedom through surrender. At its heart, God's Kingdom isn't about standing out for the sake of being different or finding another way to get ahead. It's about becoming more like Jesus, who loved, served, sacrificed, and ultimately gave His life so that we could truly live. And here's the beautiful irony: when we live like Jesus in a world that doesn't, we can't help but stand out.
I'm excited for the conversations these hats will spark. Stop by Mtn Thrift & Coffee to pick one up—and be ready for some great conversations about the King and His Kingdom.
