Where Credit Is Due

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2

Can you think of the last time you heard a catchy new song, tasted a delicious dish at a party or saw an up-in-coming athlete have a breakout game? I’d be willing to bet that part of your response included the question….WHO? Who sings this song!? Who made this buffalo chicken dip!? Who is that kid wearing #23? It’s hard to deny the fact that we are wired in a way that makes us want to know WHO is responsible for our amazement, wonder and delight. I believe this desire to give credit where credit is due is tied directly to God’s design for us as worshippers. As worshippers, we are to be a people who continually call out and ascribe value, beauty and glory to God above all else. Ascribing glory to God through his creation is one of my favorite ways to worship and experience Him. I love to wander high into the mountains and look in wonder at His handiwork. While I already know the answer to “WHO?!”, I respond with gratitude, praise and delight with a simple, “THANK YOU LORD.”
