To Trust is to Remember
I have been reading through the book of Psalms most recently in my quiet time and pairing it with a devotional book by The Daily Grace Co. that provides some commentary and reflection If questions. It's been very encouraging to me each morning as I sit and spend time with God.
The other day I read Psalm 20; verse 7 reads, "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." The commentary mentioned that in this particular psalm, the word "trust" means "remember." To trust is to remember.
What a great reminder this was for me this week. This is such a simple, yet foundational truth to walking with Jesus and growing in our trust. We call to remembrance. It seems so simple, yet it impacts our faith more than we often realize and is a practice we need to incorporate more in our lives. Whether it be stopping for a moment in frenzy and anxiety to recall what God has done, placing physical reminders around your house to remember what God has done, putting on a worship song or audio bible to have what God has done spoken over you, ect. - we need to do these things.
To trust is to remember. This week, pick one of those ways I listed to remember and incorporate it into your day. Together, let's remember, praise Him, and grow in our trust.
