Where Do We Go from Here?
God wants to be in a relationship with you, so He sent His one and Only Son Jesus to die for you, to remove the barrier of sin between you and Him. Then Jesus rose, giving us eternal hope and opportunity for a relationship with God in Heaven forever. He is waiting and wanting you to turn to Him. God loves you, to the cross and back. Happy Easter! Now let's keep celebrating this truth year round!
A Holy Week Reflection
All of Christ' sufferings, every part displays part of our salvation. It is all steeped in meaning and purpose. In addition, as we look in Scripture, we also see many different things fulfilled from the Old Testament. My prayer this week as we celebrate and remember Jesus' death and resurrection is that God would bring us all into a deeper understanding of what was accomplished for us by Jesus, not just in His death and resurrection but through His sufferings on our behalf as well - through that, I pray we would be led to worship, praise and thanks to our one and only Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Refrigerator Box
For one reason or another, I have been granted a very safe pasture for this season. God has given me permission to enjoy it, share it, and treat it like the very precious gift that it is.
Life and God’s Faithfulness
With life comes change. Try not to fear it. Learn from it as much as possible. But find comfort in the fact that there is a God who does not change and in him is all peace, joy and security.
In His Word
In His Word you will grow in your relationship with Him, I assure you. If you're struggling with understanding it, do reach out to someone you know who can help. Just as the kings who were "good" had good company, so it will also benefit you. Pray for understanding of His Word, God desires for us to know Him and He is faithful to answer everything according to His will.
Pride and Humility
C.S. Lewis is credited with what I think is one of the greatest quotes on humility. He says, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less”. This posture of “self forgetfulness” is one that I pray God helps me embody. As we engage with people in our neighborhoods, homes, schools, churches, and places of work I pray the Holy Spirit would help us to forget about ourselves and genuinely say “God,please use me. I'm here first and foremost for you and then for others.”
Let Peace Rule
I pray that the peace of Christ takes the throne in my heart, and that every word, action, and thought will then flow through that peace. As long as Christ’s peace dictates my expressions, I can remain calm and confident that God will work through any conflict for my good.
Understanding Your Place
I have more joy when I am not focused on me. The world would say the opposite - create your own joy, do what makes you happy. But God's design is so different. True, lasting joy comes from shifting our focus away from ourselves and unto Him. Together, let us intentionally, moment by moment, remember our place. In doing so shall come peace, joy, and so much more.
Permission to Brag
What I’m getting at is this; it's what Christ has done that makes us who we are and that is something worth sharing. I hope the work of Christ is so present in our lives, that we can't explain any part without including him in it! As believers It is my prayer that we are more proud of who we are because of what Christ has done than we are about what we have done because…ultimately, where would we be without him?
Perceived Strength
We were made to live in community and part of that is so we can together, by the power of the Holy Spirit, fight against our sinful desires. In confession, we find freedom, hope, forgiveness, and restored relationship with our Maker. He loves you, He is for you, and He sent His Son to die and rise again for you.
Empty Your Plate
Get out of God’s way today and tell Him you’re willing to empty your plate. What has He asked you to do to conquer the sins in your life or share His name with the people around you? This year, I will make room for Him, so He is free to use me for something miraculous.
A Sure Sign of Life
Scripture tells us that when we believe and put our faith in the person and work of Jesus and commit all that we are to him, He gives us new spiritual life with Him. It's out of our relationship with God that love takes root and results in spiritual fruit.
Jesus Never Changes
Whether you're the goal-setter or the goal-forgoer - keep this truth in mind. In every fleeting day, hour, minute, second - God has not changed. Take this verse, Hebrews 13:8, scribble it on a notecard and place it somewhere you'll see. Maybe on your bathroom mirror or the bedside table. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).
Meals Matter
When we look at Jesus life, we see that his strategy was not nearly as complicated. He gathered amongst the religious and the non-religious alike, eating good food and sharing intentional, meaningful conversation for hours on end. I challenge you to look at how you use your meals to reach others around you
Recapturing the Wonder of Christmas
The beautiful news about Christmas is that God loved us so much He wasn’t willing to leave us in our tragic and desperate state. He chose to rescue us with the gift of His Son, Jesus. The incarnation means that God the Son took on flesh so He could rescue us. At Christmas we celebrate a God who chose to give us mercy, forgiveness, and grace when He would have been perfectly just to pour out His wrath on us. Accepting both the bad and good news makes the birth of Jesus, our Savior, even more glorious.
The Pursuit of Joy
Everything becomes sacred and everything becomes opportunity for thanksgiving when we slow down and look closer. A pile of dirty laundry - the reminder of another day passing and another day that God has not left us or forsaken us! Floors that never stay clean - the reminder of many friends and family who have gathered near! The list goes on.
Bind Our Wandering Hearts
Remember, the Lord commands Israel. Oh wandering Israel, quick to forget what the Lord has done! But, oh wandering church, quick to forget what the Lord has done! Be careful, lest in your financial success, your honor student son or daughter, your promotion at work, your "healthy" marriage - be careful not to forget the Lord your God!
Not Cheap News
Paul is clear that he didn't just share the good news message and move on, He actually loved the Thessalonians enough to share his very life with them. After reading this verse again, I was reminded that the gospel which means “good news” is not cheap news. It cost Jesus his life and I believe in most cases, when we share it with others it should coincide with sharing our lives with them as well.
Cleaned By the Blood Alone
I need to be washed by the cleansing blood of Christ, I cannot be clean on my own, just like River cannot! It's as simple as coming to God, admitting you're a sinner, asking for forgiveness and believing Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead. It's not about "doing all the right things," it's about putting your faith in the only one who could, Jesus. Come, and be clean!
Holy Interruptions
If we truly want to be used by God, we need to be willing to answer his call at a moment's notice. Oftentimes we must be willing to let our schedule's be interrupted, our tasks be put off, our "me time" infringed upon.
